Needless to say that having your home ruined by a fire can be extremely traumatic. Not only are personal items and sentimental artifacts lost and destroyed but the place you call home will need to be rebuilt. We understand how it feels and we are here to guide you through the rebuilding process. We will put at your disposal our 39 plus years of expertise in these matters. EJH rebuilds and restores damaged properties everyday. It’s our core business and you can rest assured that you will be in good hands with EJH.
Where do we start?
First, we will contain the loss, secure the premise, and begin assessing the damages. EJH will conduct a structural evaluation to determine the extent of the damages. Our Project Manager will determine the extent of the damage encountered during the fire. Fire, water, smoke and soot damage will be taken into consideration. Your EJH Project Manager will document, photograph, and measure all damaged areas and generate a report used to determine the dollar value necessary to restore your property. Our state-of-the-art computer estimating system (Xactimate) will allow us to formulate a complete, detailed estimate-promptly and accurately.
The second step in this process is to assess the damage to the content of your residence. Many homewoners tend to forget valuable items that can be claimed as lost during a fire. We will help you gather an inventory list that will detail: the quality, description, amount you paid for the items, length of ownership, the amount of damage sustained and the replacement costs. This step is extremely important and thankfully EJH can assist you in creating a thorough list to present to your agent.
Another important part of the restoration process involves cleaning the structure and its contents. Some items may not require replacement or repair but they may require cleaning before they can be used again. This will require the help of trained specialists. In these instances special cleaning methods have been developed and are used to dispose of fire, soot, and smoke odors. EJH will predetermine the areas in question and address the feasibility of having on-site professionals do the work versus having them be restored at an off-site location.
What’s next?
The insurance company will render a decision on the value of the loss to your residence and the rebuilding and restoration process will begin. EJH will work with you to establish a clear action plan based on your repair priorities. You may want to restore everything to its original condition or possibly make some changes to suit your needs. Whatever the case, EJH Construction will guide you along the way!
