EJH Construction is a full-service general contractor providing commercial restoration and residential renovation services throughout Michigan and nationwide. EJH Construction began in 1972 with one truck, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to doing things the right way. In the early days, we focused on renovation work-boarding up and cleaning distressed properties throughout Detroit. Through that work, John and his father built relationships that would shape the future of the company.
One of those relationships led to an opportunity to renovate an insurance agent’s office. After seeing the quality of the work, the agent asked EJH to help a client whose home had been damaged by fire. That project became a turning point. As more insurance professionals began calling at the time of loss, EJH naturally grew into mitigation and restoration.
While mitigation has become a core part of what we do, our foundation has always been in construction. That background continues to shape how we approach every project, understanding not just how to respond in the moment, but how to rebuild the right way.
Today, EJH is a second-generation, full-service general contractor providing 24/7 emergency mitigation and restoration services to Michigan families, along with nationwide support for commercial clients. From cosmetic renovations to full structural rebuilds, our services are designed to work together, each phase informed by the next, creating a more efficient and thoughtful process.
More than 50 years later, our focus remains the same: show up when it matters, communicate honestly, and treat every property as if it were our own. From the first call through the final walkthrough, our team works together to ensure every detail is handled with care, delivering not just quality work, but peace of mind.
EJH has grown from a small Michigan contractor into a trusted national partner, but our values haven’t changed. We remain family-driven, detail-oriented, and people-first. We listen. We communicate. Our employees regularly volunteer for causes including Relay for Life, Breast Cancer Awareness events, Habitat for Humanity, and support for Michigan’s homeless veterans. We also practice responsible building -reducing waste, improving efficiency, and restoring properties in ways that protect both people and the environment. Our goal is always to leave every project, and every community, better than we found it.
